Wavecom GSM/GPRS Ethernet modem now available from M2M Connectivity

News Release, November 10, 2008. M2M Connectivity Pty. Ltd, Australian and New Zealand distributor of Wavecom modems and embedded modules, today announced the launch of the new Ethernet board for the Wavecom Fastrack Supreme GPRS modem.

The Internal Expansion Socket Module (IESM) Ethernet board can be fitted to the Fastrack Supreme to connect remote serial devices to an Ethernet network over GPRS.

This IESM Ethernet board has a 10BaseT RJ45 interface and expands the functionality of the standard Wavecom Fastrack Supreme to a state-of-the-art Ethernet device for machine-to-machine applications. The Ethernet / Fastrack Supreme bundle can act as a router/gateway utilizing wireless GSM/GPRS to provide primary network connectivity to any Ethernet device, or small networks of IP devices.

Other key features of the IESM Ethernet board include:
• Internet Plug-In (WIP 5.0) allows automatic connection to the internet thanks to TCP/IP
• DNS support
• DHCP client for automatic configuration or static IP addressing
• IP routing & gateway

Applications include remote connection to ATM and POS, for utilities, and in security and other industrial monitoring sectors.

Wavecom make it possible to expand cellular applications with simple plug-ins for the Fastrack Supreme. The Fastrack Supreme with IESM-Ethernet can utilize AT Plug-ins of the powerful Open AT® software suite. Open AT® is the world’s most comprehensive cellular development environment, which allows embedded standard ANSI C applications to be executed directly on the Wireless CPU.
