CDMA / EV-DO / 1x

Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology provides excellent voice capacity and data capability for mobile and fixed wireless networks. CDMA works by converting speech into digital information, which is then transmitted as a radio signal over a wireless network. Using a unique code to distinguish each different call, CDMA enables many more people to share the airwaves at the same time - without static, cross-talk or interference.

In Australia Telstra operates the CDMA network but this will be turned off in February 2008. CDMA remains a major network standard globally with a strong footprint in USA, as well as being the lead technology in TCNZ. The CDMA standard has evolved from 1595 to Rev A with improved data speeds
