Sierra Wireless AirPrime SL6087 wins GSMA award for best wireless module

Melbourne, Australia: November 30, 2010: M2M Connectivity announces that the GSMA Embedded Mobile Module award has been won by the Sierra Wireless AirPrime SL6087 EDGE wireless module in the "Best 2G Module" category.  The AirPrime SL6087 has been recognized by the judges as being a cost-effective and innovative EDGE solution in a compact LGA form factor, and for having a powerful application framework enabling developers of M2M devices to embed their application software onto the module itself.

The winners of the GSMA’s Embedded Mobile Module Competition 2010 were announced earlier today at the Mobile Asia Congress in Hong Kong. Representatives from mobile operators including Vodafone, Orange, AT&T, Telecom Italia, KT and Smart Communications, who formed the judging panel, were looking for solutions with the best application functionality, innovation and the potential to drive economies of scale.

About the AirPrime SL6087
The AirPrime SL6087 is a quad-band EDGE wireless module in a standard 25x30mm LGA form factor. It is compatible with the AirPrime SL808x 3G module offering a seamless upgrade path.

The AirPrime SL6087 can be used as a simple modem controlled via AT commands. It can also host and natively execute a standard ANSI C/C++ application thanks to its application framework that includes an operating system (Open AT), a comprehensive set of service APIs and a suite of development tools.

The AirPrime SL6087 is available with Embedded SIM as an option. Once deployed in the field, the AirPrime SL6087 can be monitored and upgraded over the air thanks to its ready to use
