Wireless Broadband and Consumer Data
M2M is typically seen as an industrial application. However the same products (or derivatives) can be used to connect to the internet and email services via a wireless broadband connection on cellular networks.
Data communications can be via 3G/NextG, GPRS, CDMA 1x and CDMA EV-DO.
Products we supply for wireless broadband and consumer data applications include:
- USB and Serial Modems for internet and email, connecting to the PC either via a serial cable or USB connection over a wireless network
- Modems to send and receive SMS
- Fixed cellular terminals that can replace the home phone line and provide voice/fax/data connection on cellular network airtime plans. With the emergence of capped plans such usage can often lead to savings over fixed line services.
- Wireless Ethernet modems for primary or back-up data services.
Data speeds are rising on cellular networks and the 3G and CDMA EV-DO cellular networks can offer data throughput speeds equal to ADSL. At the same time data costs are reducing and there are now data plans making cost competitive with fixed services without being not tied to a phone line at home or in the office.
